Theodor Brorsen and observatory in Senftenberg
Known fact is that in Senftenberg in the mid-19th century was a lookout in his time probably the most advanced in the Czech lands. At the invitation of the owner of the estate of John Parish on the years between 1847 - 1870 was a Danish astronomer Theodor Brorsen, whose most prominent comet 23P / Brorsen-Metcalf has appeared July 20, 1847 in Altona. Žamberský to the observatory a few years later (1851) discovered two more (C / 1851 P1 and C / 1851 U1) of its total of five comets. Read more »
